TODAY, is the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Brittany Ferries voyage into Plymouth that was carrying a cargo of cauliflowers and cognac from Roscoff, on a specially converted Israeli tank-carrier the Kerisnel.
Plymouth’s tug boats escorted the flagship of Brittany Ferries the Pont-Aven into Millbay Docks this afternoon in sunny weather with a greeting of large canon sprays of water, ship horns of welcome, and a number of small little boats that came out to see the special occasion.
Dignitaries and business leaders lined the deck of the ship from across Brittany to visit the Port, and were met by fellow civic leaders and business leaders from around the South West & Wales.
There is a special reception and gala dinner on board the flagship vessel this evening.
