Meet the team

It was only a matter of time before South West Journalists, Film Production, and Sales Specialists Kevin Kelway, Matthew Clarke, and Ian Fleming – decided to launch Westward Shipping News for our growing online maritime audience.

Kevin Kelway, BCAc

Kevin Kelway, is an award-winning Community Campaigner, Broadcast Journalist, Export Advocate, and Co-Founder of one of the UK’s most innovative PR companies Dorcas Media that has won many regional and British awards for its services and clients.

Dorcas Media specialises in reputation management, crisis management, advising businesses in PR, media engagement, social media, and well known in both protecting and enhancing businesses he works with.

Kevin has over 30 years experience working in print and broadcasting, and recently secured Gold Recognition for his work in promoting the Armed Forces Covenant and supporting the UK’s Armed Forces, veterans, and families.

He was the News Editor for Business i Devon, Marketing Manager for Outset Plymouth, A4e South West, and one of his proudest moments was winning the Sheila McKechnie Foundation Community Award – for his 4-year campaign in saving Plymouth’s iconic Tinside Lido, and presented the honour at the House of Lords in 2015.

Matthew Clarke

Matthew Clarke, is a Broadcast Journalist and film maker with a long background in radio and video productions for some of the region’s top events and businesses.

Matthew has worked at Plymouth Sound, Pirate FM and Radio Plymouth over the years, and covering news from the city and around the South West region.

He has delivered Writing and Broadcasting Courses for local businesses to understand how to get company messaging and branding out into the world of local and national media awareness.

Key memories are going on the press launch for the Pont Aven, and on HMS Ocean as the ship returned from the Gulf.

Matthew is also a cultural campaigner who produces media and content of the Cornish language that is viewed across the globe.

Ian Fleming

Ian Fleming, has over 40 years experience in Business and Sales Management, and Co-Founder of one of the South West of England’s most innovative PR Agency at Dorcas Media based in Plymouth.

Ian is managing all sales and sponsorship opportunities at Westward Shipping News, strategically planning, and working with the team to develop our sales, advertising, and sponsorship services.

Ian has supported trade missions overseas including Gibraltar, Ireland, and and Europe, and passionate about supporting local businesses that engage in export opportunities, and especially Plymouth’s new FREEPORT status, and the South West of England’s ‘exciting global maritime role opportunities’.
