50 YEARS OF BRITTANY FERRIES IN PLYMOUTH

TODAY, is the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Brittany Ferries voyage into Plymouth that was carrying a cargo of cauliflowers and cognac from Roscoff, on a specially converted Israeli tank-carrier the Kerisnel.

Civic leaders greeted the ship back in 1973, as they will again today, with Twinning Committees representing towns, villages, and business leaders from across Brittany travelling to Plymouth on the Pont-Aven, which as been specially re-routed for the celebratory birthday voyage.

They will be met at Millbay by their twin-town counterparts from across the South West and Wales with a special reception and gala dinner on board the flagship vessel this evening.
