SUBMARINE MOTHER SHIP LEAVES THE SOUND

The Turkish Navy’s TCG Alemdar submarine rescue mother ship on a visit to Plymouth leaving the Sound on Wednesday evening. The vessel is designed to perform subsea and surface search and rescue missions under various sea conditions

The ship is on its way to take part in a series of NATO sponsored live Submarine Escape and Rescue (SMER) exercises in Norway this month.

DYNAMIC MONARCH is a triennial submarine search, escape, and rescue (SMER) exercise led by NATO designed to train NATO and national commands and specific assets, including partners and non-NATO nations.


DYNAMIC MONARCH are serialised exercises that provide opportunities to practice and advertise submarine search, escape, and rescue procedures among NATO and non-NATO nations.

Although established by NATO, ISMERLO supports all nations and pursues the involvement of global submarine-operating nations and focused on the humanitarian aspect which is saving lives at sea.
