What a beautiful sight! The Santa Maria Manuela is a stunning classic tall ship, and was spotted outbound in the Sound early this evening – and was a real treat for our webcam viewers.

The historic 1937 Portuguese four-masted schooner, was berthed at the Barbican Landing Stage, and visiting the city.
The vessel was a codfish lugger, and served in the cod fishing industry until 1993, when the ship was considered obsolete and partially dismantled, and preserving only her steel hull.
For 3 years between 2007 and 2010, the ship went under a full restoration to her 1937 design.

The restoration included modernised interiors and teak decking, and making the Santa Maria Manuela one of the world’s most comfortable and faithful tall ships on the high seas.
The sailing adventure vessel offers hands-on sailing experiences, island-hopping voyages, and visiting exotic and Atlantic crossings to the Azores, Maderia, and Cape Verde says the brochure. The beautiful vessel hosts corporate events, private celebrations, film & movie productions, and scientific expeditions.

In the distance Brittany Ferries flagship the Pont Aven on schedule and sailing to France, and the Plymouth pilot boat escorting the Santa Maria Manuela past the breakwater lighthouse.
