It’s been a great year for international shipping visits to Plymouth in 2022, and the city is looking to grow with more cruise visits in 2023.
The huge MS Rotterdam made a whistle stop visit to the city recently to celebrate the maiden voyage of its namesake 150 years ago, when it sailed en route from Rotterdam to New York in 1872.
That historic voyage saw the ship pick up additional passengers and mail in Plymouth before setting off across the Atlantic Ocean.
Plymouth’s tourism chiefs are hoping to tap into the cruise ship sector with passengers spending in the local economy on visits and tours.
