RIVERSIDE CAMPAIGNERS CELEBRATE – IN SAVING GREEN FIELD

A cry for help in Ernesettle to save a green field space from plans to build a solar park at Ernesettle Lane, near the River Tamar, was answered when local residents banded together to fight and save a field that is home to rescue horses, nature, wildlife, biodiversity, and stunning views across the Tamar Valley.

Debbie White, who has leased the field for over 10 years, set up a community and petitioning campaign that generated over a thousand signatures from people living in the area, and across the South West, she said.

“We are celebrating after the Four Greens Community Trust that oversees the site, held an extraordinary board meeting to discuss the future of the green field on the 29th of August, and its board rejected plans to build a solar park after local opposition.”

“I wish to thank the residents of Ernesettle and all the people who signed our petition and supported across Plymouth and the South West to save our field.”

“We are very excited the green space will be preserved for the local community for generations to come, and especially thank the board at Four Greens Community Trust for making the right decision,” she said.

Mark Rowles, the Chief Executive of Four Green Community Trust, said: “After a lengthy discussion, the FGCT voted to inform all the relevant stakeholders that the proposed solar project should be rejected.”

Debbie added: “Our rescue horses now have a secure home again, and our beautiful green field and environment are saved for Ernesettle,’ she said.

Westward Shipping News was the first to feature the community campaign dated May 11th 2024.
