HMS Portland is type 23 frigate, and was accepted into service by the Royal Navy on the 15 December 2020, and was commissioned on the 3 May in 2021.
In 2018, the ship was handed over to Babcock International at Devonport Dockyard for a 3-year refit and re-entered service in 2021 after extensive refurbishment and upgrades.
Embarked Merlin at anchor in Plymouth Sound today, with HMS Portland starting several months on duty as the Towed Array Patrol ship.
