GETTING READY FOR CRUISE SEASON

Plymouth is the perfect cruise destination, being a compact and walkable city from the historic Barbican to the Hoe and town centre.

Between April and October, around 10,000 passengers from 14 iconic cruise ships will be arriving in Plymouth.

Westward Shipping News 24 hour webcam streaming will capture all the ships as they enter the Sound this season.

Most vessels will drop anchor in the Sound with shuttle boat rides to the Barbican Landing Stage, where they will be met by some of the finest red carpet welcomes the city is now famous for.

Associated British Ports (ABP) Millbay Docks is receiving some serious infrastructure developments with the start of a £1.3 million+ overhaul that will secure the future of the Ferry Terminal and expand the city’s cruise ship visits, freight, and green shipping credentials.

Cruise passengers usually get time from (8am to 6pm) to explore our great waterfront city, where port bosses, shore handlers, local business leaders, and the city’s amazing ‘Volunteer Cruise Ambassadors‘ – are at the ready to help passengers get the most out of their Plymouth visits.

The city benefits from berthing, pilotage, harbour fees, together with local attractions, shops, cafés, boat tours, which adds a significant boost to the local economy and employment opportunities.

Plymouth’s Cruise Partnership says the city received a 40 percent hike last year, and cementing the city’s global reputation as a ‘must-see cruise destination’.

The partnership was created in 2021 and includes the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners, Associated British Ports Millbay, Destination Plymouth, The BID (Business Improvement District), Plymouth City Centre Company, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, and Plymouth City Council.
