DUTCH PATROL VESSEL LEAVING FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN

Dutch patrol ship HNLMS Holland was spotted leaving Plymouth Sound this evening on our webcam – and on its way to the eastern Mediterranean to provide support in the region if any evacuations are needed.

A defence spokesman said ‘together with our allies, the vessel can also contribute to the establishment of a maritime corridor in order to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The dutch patrol vessel is expected to be in the eastern Mediterranean by mid-November.

HNLMS Holland was built in 2012, and is the first ship of the Holland-class offshore patrol vessels of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

The ship was originally designed to fulfill patrol and intervention tasks against lightly armed opponents, such as pirates and smugglers.
