The Hoe foreshore was a spectacle of gig power early this evening, with rowers taking part in the GigRower European Championships, which officially start tomorrow, with races taking place around Jennycliff Bay, Drake’s Island, and Barn Pool Beach at Mount Edgcumbe.
The GigRower European Championships is a new international Cornish pilot gig rowing event hosted by the Cornish Pilot Gig Association.
The event will take place at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th July 2026.
