WELCOME HOME ST ALBANS

A Plymouth welcome home to HMS StAlbans arriving in the Sun and spotted on our live webcams this morning inbound to Devonport.

The city based Type 23 frigate left the city just before Christmas as the Towed Array Patrol Ship (TAPS), and assigned to the anti-submarine task in the Atlantic and British waters.

(TAPS) duty is allocated to one of the RN’s ASW frigates, typically for periods that can last up to about 3 months.

The main aim is to detect adversary submarines and sanitise the waters around the British Isles. But also, to protect the movement of the British Nuclear Vanguard deterrent.
