THE LADY OF THE SEA ARRIVES IN PLYMOUTH

The Lady of the Sea MV Ambition dropped anchor in the Sound this morning on an unscheduled visit to Plymouth due to bad weather conditions in the English Channel.

The MV Ambition was due to visit Guernsey as one of its last stops, but had to cancel at the last minute.

The luxury Bahamas-registered cruise liner kicked off Plymouth’s cruise season in April 2024, with over 1200 passengers on board visiting the city.

Glen Gardner of Destination Plymouth said on LinkedIn: “We welcome the MV Ambition into the sheltered waters of Plymouth Sound this morning on an unscheduled visit,” he said.

“All guests and crew will be taking tender boats to the Barbican Landing Stage.”

The MV Ambition stands at 709 feet in length with a ‘draft’ of 23 feet—the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of the hull.

Once again, the cruise tourists will be given the red carpet treatment and met by the Cruise Volunteer Ambassadors, shore handlers, and representatives from Plymouth’s Waterfront Partnerships.

Plymouth’s latest cruise arrival is the 11th for 2024, with another, Artania, still to come next month with the ambition to grow to 30 visits a year, say city bosses.
