ST ALBANS HONOURS CITY WITH 11-GUN SALUTE

ONE of the busiest ships in the Royal Navy, HMS St Albans, is back home in Plymouth today, after spending 150 days on operations, with over 30,000 miles on the clock, and a variety of naval tasks – including 10 at-sea ship replenishments.

The ship’s crew are resting at anchor this evening near the Plymouth breakwater and getting ready to officially arrive into the city tomorrow morning with a spectacular 11-gun salute.

You can watch the ship steaming across the Hoe foreshore on our live streaming service in the morning around 9:30am, as it makes its way up the River Tamar to Devonport Dockyard to be met by families and loved ones.

St Albans was the last Type 23 Duke-class frigate to undergo a LIFEX refit and only the second after HMS Richmond to successfully complete the power generation and machinery controls upgrade (PGMU).
