SERCO GOOD NEWS FOR PLYMOUTH

The future for Serco Marine Masters and crews at Devonport Dockyard is now secure after a £1 billion+ contract with the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Serco crews have provided critical services in assisting Royal Navy shipping in and out of the Sound for nearly 30 years.

Three contracts were awarded to Serco Group for over 10 years for in-port services in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Clyde, and Faslane, valued at £850 million.

£70 million contract over five years for the provision of inshore support to military training and exercises, British underwater test and evaluation (BUTEC), and an underwater test and evaluation range off Scotland.

£110 million contract over 10 years for the offshore support to military training and exercises that also includes two specialist open-going vessels for regional and worldwide support.

The contract includes the procurement of 24 new vessels on behalf of the Royal Navy to modernise the Serco fleet of vessels.
