PLYMOUTH CALL FOR THE SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY

Saga Ocean Cruises’ Spirit of Discovery is back in Plymouth and arrived in misty conditions at 7am this morning.

The Spirit of Discovery last visited the city on the 5th of May, 2023, and our live webcam was the first to capture images of the luxury cruise liner arriving in the Sound.

A Plymouth pilot boat guided the huge ship to anchor inside the breakwater, where tender boats were soon launched to take many of the 987 passengers and 530 crew to the Barbican Landing Stage.

Volunteer Cruise Ambassadors were up early this morning, and the team at the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners were preparing the landing stage to greet the tourist visitors.

Plymouth has a global reputation for its welcoming ceremonies where other city representatives and shore handlers will meet and greet the passengers.

It has been a busy season of cruise ship visitors to Plymouth so far this year with Ambition, Spirit of Adventure, Norwegian Pearl, Amera, Silver Spirit and the latest, the Spirit of Discovery.

You can see all the latest shipping movements on our live webcam throughout the day, and the Spirit of Discovery is due to leave at 5pm.
