The largest ocean survey vessel in Western Europe, HMS Scott, is ready to come back into service and nearing the end of its Ship Life Extension Programme at A&P Falmouth.

Plymouth-based HMS Scott has been repainted; the main engine has been overhauled with four Cummins generators; replacement of internal doors and lifeboat davits, a new water ballast system installed, and improvements to the galley, accommodation and working areas.

The 28-year-old vessel should see service until 2033 to carry on charting the world’s deepest and secluded oceans with sonars that can scan thousands of metres deep.
