The Labour council in Plymouth are looking at plans to place the historic Barbican and Hoe with (ATTROs) Anti-Terrorism Traffic Regulation Orders when needed.
ATTROs will allow the police, emergency services, and city council to restrict access around locations like the Hoe Promenade that showcase many events throughout the year.
The ATTRO would allow emergency services to close off or restrict access to local roads and designated areas to improve safety and the response to potential threats.

Plymouth City Council says the measures will improve safety and help reduce potential terrorism threats to public events on the Hoe and Barbican.
Security experts said the ATTROs are in response to the constantly changing times we live in and are measures to tighten security around public events like Armed Forces Day and the Remembrance Ceremonies on the Esplanade and Hoe Park.
It has been reported the police requested ATTROs covering large areas of the Hoe and Barbican.
The (ATTROs) will only be activated when needed and will replace the existing (TTROs) Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.
