Look back gallery dated 25th March 2021 and the nuclear submarine HMS Trenchant returning home to Devonport for the last time to be decommissioned.

The submarine proudly flew her paying off pennant and the crew ‘were on top’ to line the casing as it sailed past Plymouth’s famous Hoe.

HMS Trenchant was a Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarine and launched in 1986 by war hero Vice Admiral Sir Arthur Hezlet – he was the commander of the original HMS Trenchant submarine during WW2.

During the 35-years of service to the nation on patrol there was many highlights, and especially in 2016 and 2018, the Trenchant punched through the ice and emerged on the surface of the Arctic Ocean and sitting on the ‘top of the world’.
