The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the Norwegian frigate HNoMS Otto Sverdrup and the replenishment ship HNoMS Maud will be participating in the Royal Navy’s Carrier Strike Group deployment to Japan and the Indo-Pacific this year.

HMS Prince of Wales will be accompanied by escorts and aircraft and will work alongside the Japanese Self Defence Forces and other partners in the Indo-Pacific.

Norway is a long-standing ally of the UK and part of the Joint Expeditionary Force and Northern Group, and the Norwegian Navy will bolster the Strike Group.

The Royal Navy deployment will last for around seven months, says the MOD.
