In marking the 200th year of the RNLI, it was a day of celebrations at the Royal William Yard Marina.
Local people got the chance to climb aboard the lifeboats in the magnificent waterside Marina, and watch demonstrations, enjoy seafaring shanty performances, and especially the history of the RNLI and two centuries of the service.
Four RNLI lifeboats, including the Severn class all-weather lifeboat – the largest in the fleet was moored in the Royal William Yard Marina.
At the end of the day three of the lifeboats were captured on our 24 hour webcam passing Plymouth Hoe.
The lifeboat, has played a pivotal role around the South West coastline since the RNLI was founded in 1824.
