The Duke Class Warship launched its Wildcat helicopter after spotting suspicious activity from two boats side-by-side in the night hours.

The drug smugglers attempted to get rid of the haul by dumping the packages into the sea, all under the watchful eyes of HMS Lancaster’s helicopter and the frigate’s bridge, said a Royal Navy spokesman.

Lancaster’s sea boat fished the packages out of the water and ferried them back for testing on board, with no smugglers surrendering to the Royal Navy.

The large haul was photographed on HMS Lancaster’s deck with the crew.

HMS Lancaster continues to be part of Operation Kipion and the British long-standing presence in the Middle East to ensure the safe passage of oil and other trade goods.
