The rain and miserable weather in the Sound didn’t hinder the homecoming of HMS Somerset and its crew inbound to HMNB Devonport this morning.

The frigate has been on TAPS duty around the UK and beyond for the last 4 months.

The 436ft Type 23 frigate has been busy monitoring and shadowing Russian activities. The 200 crew are home in time for Christmas.

The main aim of TAPS duty is to detect adversary submarines and protecting the movement of the British nuclear deterrent.
