HMS Stirling Castle, in just four months of lay-up on Merseyside, is heading south to Portsmouth naval base and its new home port.
The vessel was handed over from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) over 16 weeks ago when the mine-hunting mothership departed from Birkenhead for sea trials and training.
HMS Stirling Castle was commissioned into the Royal Navy in July 2025, after being operated by the (RFA) since 2023.
