IT was an early arrival for the (AWShips) Point class roll-on/roll off sealift ship Hartland Point inbound to HMNB Devonport this morning.

The vessel was recently escorted to Estonia, carrying military equipment for a major UK-Estonian defence exercise by a Norwegian frigate and two RAF Typhoons in the eastern Baltic Sea.
A small multinational operation was carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) in ensuring regional security and freedom of movement across the Baltic Sea.
In the event of Russian aggression against one of the Scandinavian or Eastern European JEF nations, vital maritime supply routes across the Baltic would be contested by Russian forces operating from Kaliningrad and St Petersburg.

Meanwhile earlier this week RFA Lyme Bay was spotted on our live webcam being escorted by Serco Group vessels into HMNB Devonport.

RFA Lyme Bay will be participating in the annual French Navy’s #Polaris25 exercises off the West Atlantic where over 3,000 personnel, 20 surface ships, and 40 aircraft will take part from May 12 to June 15, 2025.

POLARIS 25, aims to strengthen interoperability with allies and partners including; Brazil, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, the United States, and NATO task group, and was launched in 2021.
