The MS Amera cruise ship arrived in the Sound around 7am this morning. The Plymouth pilot boat escorted the German vessel into position and dropped anchor inside the breakwater.

Tender boats from the vessel will be ferrying passengers to the Barbican Landing Stage throughout the day.
The tourists will be met by Volunteer Cruise ambassadors, cruise partnership representatives, and shore handlers – for the last designated cruise liner visitor to the waterfront city in 2026.

The nine-deck ship entered service in 1988, at a cost of nearly £120 million, and was originally called the Royal Viking Sun.
In 2019 ownership of the 204m-long ship was transferred to Phoenix Reisen, and then it underwent refurbishment in Hamburg and was renamed the MS Amera.

For all the latest movements of the ship can be seen on our live streaming cameras.
