The government is finally poised to send the world-class HMS Dragon to the Mediterranean to protect the sovereign British bases in Cyprus.

One of six Type 45 air defence destroyers, the Portsmouth-based warship is set to be deployed together with counter-drone capabilities following kamikaze drone strikes on RAF Akrotiri with minimal damage and no reported casualties.
HMS Dragon will bring air defence capability with Wildcat helicopters armed with Martlet missiles to counter the growing threat of drones from Iran.
