ARGUS SHIP TO BE SCRAPPED

After 40 years of service, RFA Argus will be formally disposed of by the Labour government.

The ship has been laid up in Portsmouth since June of 2025, and the material state of the vessel has declined to such a state that its safety certification was withdrawn by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency and Lloyd’s Register of inspections.

RFA Argus completed a 5-month overhaul at A&P Falmouth at the end of March 2025.

The vessel is due to leave Portsmouth for the last time on Sunday.

Argus served during the Falklands War in 1982 as a primary casualty receiving ship.

The historic vessel will be sadly missed by many that served on the ship, and its distinguished service to the nation.
